Forked River Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

A motorcyclist collided with a mini-van at the intersection of Nautilus Boulevard and Normandie Drive this afternoon

A Forked River man was reported dead after a motorcycle accident on Nautilus Boulevard, police said.

Joseph Mollicone, 31, suffered fatal injuries after his motorcycle collided with a mini-van on Nautilus Boulevard near the intersection with Normandie Drive in Forked River at 1:16 p.m.

A 2001 Toyota Sienna mini-van operated by Kimberly Buxton, 45, of Forked River was waiting to turn left onto Normandie Drive from Nautilus Boulevard eastbound. Mollicone, who was operating a 2001 Kawasaki ZX 750 westbound on Nautilus Boulevard, lost control of his motorcycle and collided with the mini-van within the van's lane, police said.

Buxton was taken by ambulance to Community Medical Center in Toms River where she was treated and released.

Preliminary investigation found that Buxton did not contribute to the cause of the accident, police said. No motor vehicle summonses were issued at the scene.

The Lacey Township Police Department along with the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department Criminalistics Unit are investigating the accident.

The Lacey EMS and the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department assisted at the scene.

Police are requesting for anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call Officer Jerffrey Slota at 609-693-6636, ext. 2573.

Ignorance once again rearing it's ugly head. The speed has not been reported, get your facts straight. If he was speeding, he didn't deserve to die! Have some sympathy for all of the people that loved Joe. You may have known him but you were obviously not that close of a friend or you would not post such a rude comment. I live on a road that people use as a freeway but I wouldn't wish death on any of them & I would feel bad if ANYONE died.

Hey Mc83 you need to STFU. you have no clue how fast he was going or what transpired that caused him to lose control. You have no idea what happened and 35mph is plenty fast depending on how you land. RIP Joe

Hey MC83, I feel sorry for you, apparently if you don't feel bad then I feel bad for
you because it seems you have no heart, and unless you were an eye witness you have no idea what happened or how fast he was going. Just for the record he did hurt a child, his parents child. Rest in Peace Joe, you will always be a fine young man in my eyes. Thoughts and Prayers with Joe' s family and friends.

To Joe's family my deepest sympathy. It doesn't matter how he died, the fact is he is gone. I lost my only child a year ago and I still marvel at the inability of some people to just stop and realize that a son or brother or father or friend are gone forever. I didn't know Joe but I wish he and his family peace and comfort at this terribly painful time.

My deepest condolences to his family. I live on Nautilus and he isn't the only one who flies up and down the road. Tons of people do. I heard him yesterday when he pulled onto the street and heard his motorcycle wind up as he accelerated. He went by my house doing well over double the speed limit if not triple. It is sad that he died. We can be thankful that no one else was killed. For the naysayers who say know your facts....I do. Speed was a factor. No one is perfect and we all make mistakes some more costly than others. RIP Mr. Mollicone.

No matter what the reason for the accident was the thing that matters is that alot of us have lost one of the most amazing people ever to walk on this earth! Joe was a very very close friend of mine & i know for a fact that he was the type of person that put everyone else before himself! Joe was extremly close with his family and definitly touched alot of lives! So again speeding or not whatever the reason was this happen it is an extreme tragidy that has cost this world an amazing person that was taken way too soon! Joey this world will not be the same without you!!! I love you!!

this was one of the saddest events I have ever scene in the whole time I have lived in that neighborhood, not knowing this young man, I just broke down in tears with the thoughts of his family and their loss. I commend the Lacey Squad 23 and Lacey PD for their valiant efforts and their professionalism with this tragic event. A young man lost his life and another has to live with could haves and should haves that incurred with this event. My deepest sympathy for this young mans family.
