Favorites: Anthony's Pizza & Restaurant Voted Lacey's Favorite

Biagio's Trattoria takes second

Lacey has spoken. Anthony’s Pizza & Restaurant was voted Lacey’s favorite Italian restaurant and pizzeria.

Earlier this week, we asked our loyal readers to choose their favorite Italian eatery. It’s the first of a series of week-long polls of your favorite places.

We had a list of 14 local eateries and readers casted their vote and told us why that restaurant is their favorite in the comments section.

Out of 1479 total votes, Anthony’s received 537.

Here’s the running:

First Place: Anthony’s Pizza & Restaurant (36 percent of the votes)
Second Place: Biagio’s Trattoria (31 percent of the votes)
Third Place: Conca D’oro Ristorante (8 percent of the votes)

Stay tuned for more polls to come!

Editors Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

In general the food in Lacey is inedible. To get good food you need to drive at least a half hour north or south (really just North). 37 pizza places that all make bland tasting dough and god forbid you try to get a nice Italian dinner. Guess I may be spoiled growing up with true Italian north jersey cooking. Most people just have no clue what good food tastes like.

Best chicken francaise pizza ever. We have never had a bad meal there. They also make a awesome chicken tortellini soup. We catered our daughters sweet sixteen from them and everything was a big hit with the kids.

yes beacuse it is very rude that you are talking of someone that you obviously dont know anything about it ,i happen to know the guy that run biagios and he does"t drink at ALL you should keep professional if you intend to review a place and remember it is only you opinion and opinion varies for your information he has the same staff for more than 8 years so the guy isn't bad as you make him look than as i stated above his some one you dont know anything abuot it so keep it civil and professional

Listen lou, I've known this owner for many years. I use to go there ansd bring family and he would come over to the table with his glass and sit sown and pour himself a glass of wine without asking. But maybe that was imagination !!

I think not.

Professional ? Are ya kidding me ? What do I have to be professional about? I

do not critique restarants for a living. I maybe saying something you know nothing about. All I'm doing is speaking the truth.

If eveyone like the same things what a boring world this would be.

If you like the place go right ahead and eat there, but don't jump on someone who doesn't like the same place or has a story to tell about bad experiences.
I"m not telling you a story about something I HEARD, this happened to me and my family.
Maybe you should practice what you preach and be civil and professional.
You shouldn't tell people what they know and don't know, just bc you haven't seen that side of him. And BTW I didn't even use the man's name, and I could have.

Via napoli is the best. they only opened less than a year ago..and already have a half hour wait in friday evenings.. The portions are big enough to bring leftovers home for your lunch the next day... the owner is so personable, and I have no complaints about all of his pretty waitresses who work hard to make your dining experience enjoyable.

Biagio This is by far our most favorite local restaurant. Warm atmosphere, more for adults athough kids who appreciate finer foods would be ok. Recommend the stuffed mushroom appetizer. Every dish ordered so far has been excellent. Bring your own spirits. Wait staff very friendly and atmosphere perfect for sitting back and relaxing with friends. They dont rush you through your meal and let you sit back and relax long after your meal is done. Recommend reservations during late spring to late summer for that reason.

Has anyone tried ESPO'S in Lanoka Harbor? I will mention it again since it seems that my posts keep getting removed. Very good and pizza is just like North Jersey pizza.
I am intriqued tho about Anthony's Chix Fran Pie, and their soups, will have to give tht a shot. Thanks for the heads up. BTW Anthony's make an awesome a Chicken cheese steak sub!

Actually, I like Espo's! The pizza there is fantastic! Definitely blows away Anthony's and Espo's has specials, unlike Anthony's. For me, its a toss up between Papouli's and Espo's. Papouli's has great dinner's AND great pizza and the dining area is a little nicer than Espo's.

Laura E I know what ya mean about sitting and eating at Espo's. BUT you have to try their Chix Fran, and their cavatelli, sausage and Broccoli Rabe. HUGE dish and great garlic knots free on the table.
Talk about specials... Large pit is $8 bucks on Tues. Can't beat that.

I think Espo's should have been on the poll list. I live in Barnegat, and travel to Lanoka just for Espo's pizza. Their specials are great and very reasonable for pies. I have never had anything there I didn't like. Espo's is the best!!

I have to agree with you Mantle... years ago it was a good place to eat. Lat time I went there we paid thru our lungs and the bar drinks were small and $$$. Our waitress wasn't the best either, forgot our salad and bread and when we asked she just looked at us like how dare we ask! LOL No. "Im sorry", nothing. Not good when your tip depends alot on your attitude ! We like Ill Giardinella in T.R. We know the owners from North Jersy. Good ol Italian food like Nonni made.

I think it depends on what kind of meal you're looking for. I mean, PIZZERIAS are great for a casual night & take out. But, you can't compare that to a fine dinning restaurant like Il Giardino.

I agree with the first part Rachel but not about the part of calling IIGiardino "fine dining" ! Bob hit the nail right on the head...mediocre food, High prices and a Liquor Licence that they thinking they can rob you with the prices of their drinks.
There are a few good Italian restuarants... try Spiaggia e Luna in Barnegat. you will be pleasantly surprised.

Tried Anthony's again based on this voting. Pizza was mediocre at best, but the cheese steak was fantastic. It amazes me that not one pizza joint in a town that has 500 can make a good north jersey/NY style pizza. Does anyone use Mother Dough? I am guessing not. Must take too much effort to actually try to make a real high quality dough. I'll stick to making pizza at home.

Anthonys is great, try the pizza and ask for paper thin and extra well done. It is as good as the old Freddies in Long Branch. And Jerry and the gang are wonderful. Will cook it the way you want it and always a smile.
