In my household, the dog truly is “a man’s best friend.”
Beginning Sunday, May 6 through May 12 is National Pet Week—a week dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership, celebrating the human-animal bond and promoting public awareness of veterinary medicine.
From following me around the house to laying beside my grandfather on his last days, my Goldendoodle Lexi has seen my family through the best and worst times. Some may say, “She’s just a dog.” But I beg to differ. From her first day with us five years ago when she laid on my father’s belly and stared into his eyes, she became an official member of our family.
How about you? What are your favorite memories of your pet? How will you celebrate your pet this week? Maybe a trip to the dog park? Or how about a trip to Rita’s? (Yes, Lexi had some pet-friendly custard on her fifth birthday as seen in the photo).
Celebrate National Pet Week right here on Lacey Patch! Share your favorite photo of your pet (I've got you started with a few of my own). Snap a photo of your celebration and share it here!
