Car Was Charging When Fire Ignited in Forked River Garage

The blaze was confined to the garage and extinguished within 15 minutes

A fire ignited in the garage of a Forked River home damaging two cars on Saturday, Chief Ray Brandmahl of the Forked River Fire Department said.

At approximately 4 p.m., the fire company responded to the scene on Leilani Drive where two cars—an electric and a Camaro—were located in a flooded garage. One was connected to a trickle charger, Brandmahl said.

The residents were home when the fire ignited, he said. No injuries were reported and damage was confined to the cars, garage and garage doors.

The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes, he said.

The Ocean County Fire Marshal also responded to the scene. The incident is still under investigation, Brandmahl said.
