UPDATE: Foul Play Not Suspected In Discovery Of Man's Body In Double Trouble State Park
Identification pending notice of next of kin, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office Says
There were no apparent indications of foul play in the discovery of a body of a man in his sixties in Double Trouble State Park, the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office says.
"The cause of death is pending an autopsy," said Executive Assistant Prosecutor Michel A. Paulhus. "It doesn't appear to be anything criminal."
Authorities from the Prosecutor's Office and the Ocean County Medical Examiner's Office were at the park off Pinewald-Keswick Road after midnight last night.
Information on the area of the 8,495 acre park the body was found in and the time the man was discovered are not yet available, Paulhus said.
The man's identification is being withheld until next of kin are notified, he said.
Come back to Berkeley Patch later for more information on this developing story.

This is not the first time a body was discovered in that area. But of course judging from all the homeless people after the storm, I can see where someone might have decided to make the park a place to live for awhile. If that be the case. The weather has been terribly cold with warm ups, and surprised we have not found more bodies.

What a shame if this man was homeless he could of sought help from the st. pius church on lacey rd...Oh my mistake they only want your money and keep their doors locked... im thinking of the Methodist church across the street where that wonderful woman opened her doors and her heart to anyone in need of help day or night after hurricane sandy and always has…st pius should be ashamed of themselves im embarrassed to have been a member emphasis on have been.

I seriously doubt anyone was living in Double Trouble. There is no food readily availble nor much shelter unless the person broke into a building. DT has heated, flush toilets and that is about it convenience wise. From first indications I would suspect a suicide.

Randy, leave the Catholic church outta this, their sheep can't even make left turns without police officers there to direct them.. This man is at least at peace now. I wouldn't want to be living in the woods in the middle of winter.

Randy is shooting from the hip and obviously does not think before he writes. The Catholic Church has one of the greatest records in human history of privately supporting shelters, hospitals, food pantries, schools, etc.(notwithstanding their recent failings, which are inexcusable) Maybe Pius could have done more, but the cheap shots do nothing to advance the conversation. While I can do without Kelley's sarcasm, she is correct that there should not be tax payer funded officers directing traffic after mass.

I don't see anything in the article that indicates the gentleman was a homeless person. Speaking of the homeless, it is my understanding that Lakewood officials have been woefully unsuccessful in collecting the $1,000 a day fine they are imposing on tents and wood stoves in Tent City. Perhaps, the homeless don't consider monetary fines injurious? Given the ineffectiveness (see:government) of fining people that haven't any money, the township should probably consider a different tact if they truly want to rid themselves of these residents. I therefore suggest that there be mandates put in place that require every single tent and wood stove be ELEVATED or suffer injurious insurance premiums. This, in effect, would drive the population from Tent City, because the residents quite simply would not be able to afford to live there any longer, and Lakewood's social fabric and landscape would revert to what is was prior to the homeless being there. Done.

You people crack me up....Y'all need to get a hobby! LOL Or start a 'Whining" group that you can post to. This way you wouldn't be going off and replying with words that have nothing to do with the topic! The article went from finding a dead man to the Catholic church doing nothing, to Police helping make left hand turns (BECAUSE people are SO DIScourteous to others) to taxing tent people who are homeless and making fun of them having no Ins to elevate their tents. WTG people....

He was probably taking a run or walk and had a heart attack. All this nonsense homeless talk is ridiculous to say the least. Shut your mouths until you know the facts.
