6 Busted in Clairmore Avenue Drug Raid
Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found after detectives and police executed an arrest warrant
Five Lacey residents and a Floridian were busted after police executed an arrest warrant on Thursday, finding narcotics and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Detectives from the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department and Lacey Police Department executed an arrest warrant at a residence on the 100 block of Clairmore Avenue, ultimately arresting:
- Abigal Thomson, 26, of Clairmore Avenue, Lanoka Harbor
- Karalyn Smith, 21, of Pensacola Road, Forked River
- William Shelby, 26, of Clubhouse Drive, Forked River
- Matthew Lonsdale, 20, of Brandywine, Forked River
- Kristalinn Steadman, 19, of Laurel Boulevard, Lanoka Harbor
- Rebecca Eaton, 24, of Titusville, Fla.
The arrest warrant was served at Thomson's home and while inside the residence, narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found leading to the suspects' arrest.
Thomson and Smith were arrested on outstanding warrants. Shelby, Lonsdale, Steadman and Eaton were arrested for narcotics. All six were charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Thomson and Smith were released after posting bail at the Ocean County Jail.

The Lacey Police Chief and his puppets ARE THE PROBLEM! I lived in Lacey for 24 years. I am trying to save the lives of the Lacey children along with the help of many mothers who are TIRED OF GOING TO THE GRAVE TO TALK TO THEIR CHILDREN. Several mothers called the I. A. Division of the O. C. Prosecutor's Office on 8-31-2011. For (6) hours, these mothers testified to a staff member about POLICE SELLING DRUGS / POLICE PROTECTING METH LABS / DRUG HOUSES etc. NOW---YOU CAN STOP THE DRUG PROBLEM and SAVE YOUR CHILDREN along WITH PROTECTING YOUR PROPERTY VALUE by DEMANDING A " FEDERAL PROBE " INTO THE CORRUPTION OF THE LACEY POLICE DEPT. as well as Ocean County. YOU REPORT the locations of meth labs / drug houses / police selling drugs to: THE FEDERAL DEA # 202-307-4000 * If the good people do nothing, you may find yourself at a gravesite, TALKING TO YOUR CHILD OR SOMEONE ELSE YOU KNEW & LOVED!

Lee, I hate to burst your bubble, but K-9s are not the answer, they are a tool. As in this case, the police found the contraband by accident, they were there to arrest the homeowner. K-9's are a good tool for searching the schools and the school parking lots as well as locating narcotics during other searches when the police are doing investagations but they still need search warrants. Oh ya, the dogs cost several thousands of dollars. Lacey doesn't need their own dog, the last time I checked we live in Ocean County, the Sheriffs Department have K-9s, as well as the State Police. Be careful what you ask for it will cost you if you pay taxes.
Justice
6:27 am on Sunday, February 5, 2012
steve, lacey does need a dog for patrol purposes. just because last time you checked we live in ocean county doesn't mean that they're just sitting around waiting for pd's to call them. Most of the sheriff's dogs are blood hounds which aren't even used for narcotics. And as for state police backing up lacey pd for a car search....it would never happen, you can't keep a car pulled over for hours waiting on outside agencies to respond. And it doesn't matter that they still need a warrant to search the car, if the dog picks up on a scent than the vehicle is impounded at the cost of the operator and the search is conducted.
Im tired of people complaining about taxes even though your tax bill is not going to go up because the town purchased one dog. If you don't want to pay lacey's already low taxes compared to the rest of the county then move.

Lee, Everyone has their opinion, the addics are associated with the dealers, the addics are the ones who are breaking into our homes and vehicles, shoplifting from the local stores. I have known people who have been/are addicts and YES, they are LOW LIFES. It doesn't matter how much they make after they get clean, and if they get clean and quit associating with the LOW LIFES then you/we can remove the classification we put on them but IF THEIR ADDICTS THEY ARE LOOSERS AND LOW LIFES..and no I'm not perfect either.

Look at the ages of these young adults. It's very sad. I am not making excuses and I agree the consequences are never enough. I know several of these people have tried over and over to get clean. Unfortunately this list of people are a prime example of what will happen if we don't stop our kids in middle school and hight school from experimenting and abusing. The cycle is continuing. Use this story of an example to talk to your kids. You think when they were "hanging out" they thought they would grow up to become addicts? They are someones children just like some of yours that made some really bad choices that they will carry with them for life. Again, love your kids enough talk to them about this. Take it seriously and do your part in prevention.

I do, and my children are fine. But a big part of prevention is seeing people pay consequences for their actions - that's a powerful deterrent. @Stephanie - I couldn't agree with you more. @Lee Long - I'm not perfect, but I live a productive life. They ARE losers - until they realize they have a problem and do something about it. A drug addict robbed my home - you might not think that's a big deal, but it certainly affected my life and that of my family and entire neighborhood. I have no sympathy for them.

Nancy I totally agree. Parents need to pay more attention to their kids and QUESTION. Not just accept their answers which are sometimes lies. Theres a lot of parents who don't want to believe that their kids might be on to something bad, but believe me, go with your GUT. You can prevent this from happening if you sart paying attention at a young age, and middle school is where it begins. You really need to keep a close eye on who your children are hanging out with, where they go, their extracurricular activities. ASK QUESTIONS and don't be afraid to.

My patch user name says it all. What people don't understand is that addicts don't choose to be addicts. Would you yell at a retarted person for stealing candy from a store because they didn't understand it was wrong? It's unfortunate to be given the addiction gene and when you have it it makes you do things that you don't want to do. Jail isn't the answer for addicts (including drug dealers who deal to support their habit) HELP IS! Drug dealers wouldn't deal drugs if they didn't do drugs, they wouldn't do drugs if they weren't addicts, and they wouldn't be addicts if they weren't given the addict gene by something beyond their choice! Did you choose your hair or eye color? NO! Did you choose to be an addict or not to be an addict? NO! And more so, addicts can't get help until something shocks them into doing it and it's not their fault! And not every drug addict is necessarily a house robber or a car shopper or a shoplifter for that matter, they are someone with a disease. Calling them names and catagorizing them all as dirt bags just makes them want to use more and for the problem to progress.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Just because your parents or a family member is an addict does not mean you are genetically designed to become one yourself. Are you more likely to become one, being around that type of environment growing up, I would think so, yes. However is it a GENE? Absolutely not. Stop making excuses and admit you have a problem. That's the hardest part, getting help is easy once you accept that you need it.

As much a I disagree with many of Gov Christie's policies, the fact that he is trying implement sending nonviolent drug offenders to treatment rather than prison deserves major props. He speaks of an intern that beat addiction to become a successful lawyer Often the problem does not stop after prison sentences is because it isn't the answer. You never know when a loved one or friend could become affected by addiction or far worse taken from you all together by this illness. Treatment and support is a necessity for these people. You know I have been reading these posts 17 years ago this May my older brother died from a heroin overdose. He was the most awesome guitarist, in a band and a great artist was lost over stupid drugs, That boy you are all putting down (Billy) is a beautful soul who got lost somewhere along the way. He is amazing writer and he got mixed up in the junk and yeah he's been to rehab but that is the nature of drugs. You don't know him at all and I do and I am just saying this because you people just don't understand how difficult this is for him and his family. Maybe if the community took the time to care instead of down people this town might be a better place. When did all of you become so self righteous that you stand in judgement of others......smh.....Here's an idea let's start going after the dealers and the pushers....and let's put an end to the drug trafficing across our borders. Nina, Worry about your kids in the school district because my son just graduated last year and says that the high school is "heroin high", the middle school is close to that and the drugs are starting as low as 5th and 6th grade at the Mill Pond elementary school. You can accuse just a few but if people do not wake up and stop the dealers this epidemic across America is never going to stop....Truth is we have worthless politicians at state and federal level not willing to put an end to the drug trafficing once and for all. If you want security for your children and safety for their futures start getting involved now and demand the drugs being smuggled in from Mexico and other countries cease once and for all.

My children are in the elementary and Mill Pond schools and I will share this story with them and have shared many others as part of educating my children about peer-pressure, drug and alchohol abuse, and many other challenges they will face in the world. Mostly I like to focus on teaching them to be good people who care about others and make good choices, but it does not end there. Parents really do need to be involved in their kids lives. As others commented earlier, I always ask questions and discuss issues thoroughly until the truth surfaces. Sadly, some kids don't have parents who truly parent them...how sad. I know there is no full-proof method for preventing drug experimentation and use/abuse, but I sure am going to do all I can to give my kids the best odds and so should all parents, teachers and responsible, caring people. Children are worth investing in, aren't they?

Hey Beach Girl....what am I suppose to do about these two 10 year old boys smoking dope....by the time cops got here they would have already been gone, then the cops are gonna call me a trouble maker! What kind of parents let their kids out alone in this day and age at ten. But no, I did not call the cops but we did chase them away since they were right outside my home. Should I go tell the parents their kids are on drugs? Do you think they are going to believe me? So parents in Lacey.....there are 10 year old boys in Lacey Township smoking dope, that should scare you! Who in world is selling/giving drugs to little 10 year olds.....whoever did that should be hung high in the streets and made an example of it for all! I cannot let my little girl play outside in my front yard because of that. Also to the person who says K9's will cost tax dollars.....I think tax dollars would be well spent on K9's and there should be a greater police presence at the parks and in the woods! Before you stand in judgement of anyone who has an addition when there had to be someone who gave it to them at the same age as those 10 year old boys, maybe you should be looking in your own closets and not trying to harm other people!

How do you know they are 10 years old? If you had time enough to chase them you could have had time to call the cops. You claim to be so concerned about the drug problem but them you see it and you don't want to get involved!!! That's why these kids are in so much trouble - people turn their backs and think "Well, it's not my child - I don't want to get involved." At 10 years old if they are doing drugs there is a chance to save them. If that was your child and someone saw them in front of your house, wouldn't you want to know??? I sure would! And I'd throw them right in a rehab or whatever I had to do. I would hope people were decent enough to do that with a young kid.

Daycare generation is coming of age and it's not pretty. Kids are being raised by strangers in daycares. When both parents (if there are two) are working full time something has to suffer in their life. There is no way to "do it all". The kids are sacrificed. Some with extended family support etc. make but way too many now are being lost . . . . the affects of the two working parents life style are having a detrimental affect on society. If you have a choice stay home with your kids. Downsize all the material things and don't sacrifice the children that you choose to have. Raise them yourself, don't sacrifice them to strangers at 6 or 8 weeks old.
Also, are the taxpayers supporting these "addicts"? Is addiction considered a disability? Most likely another group that working people are supporting.

Helen, you said most of what I was thinking. Far too many parents are leaving the parenting to others: schools, scouts, coaches, whoever. Parents of teens have it especially tough, but too many are just happy to have someone else be responsible for their teen. Apples don't fall far from the trees, so the cycle goes on and on and on........

The politicians have to stand up and clean out the dealers and the drug smuggling from Mexico and other countries. How many American children and young adults have to die before something is done. What good does it do to bust the kids with some residue....why not go after the ones with pounds and pounds of drugs and the cartels? Wake up! You all stand in judgement of those young people who got arrested, but fail to see the real problem and do not have the guts to stand up to those who are allowing these drugs in our country and on our streets without repercussions.

Some kids come from very good homes.Mom stayed home Dod worked a hundred hour week. Son was honor roll until middle school. Star of the soccer team. When mom and dad found out what son was up to they spent everything they had to help him. Where do we go from here, nothing seems to work. You should feel sorry for all the families involved you don't have to be a cop to be a good person. I know several families in Lacey just like us.I guess it's easy to throw stones.

Yes, it can happen to anyone, very sad . . . but the way society values material things over the most valuable thing in life, our children, is sending our society into a very dangerous direction. The breakdown of the family unit is at the root of most problems today. Notice what is on the television today - the majority of programs involving the "family" theme ridicule the family unit and glorify alternative ways of life. Our children are suffering . . .. .they need parents to be parents. A stranger in a daycare is not a substitute. Of course, some turn out ok under these circumstances but all in all it has a negative impact on the child in the long run.

They only do what the politicians in town and in the county tell them to do. Only if they are afraid of not being re-elected, will they go after the drug problem. Again, GOOD WORK LACEY TAXPAYERS!!! True but the truth is this is a very serious problem in our town. It IS a big deal. Do you have children in the school system? Its not the parents fault unless they practice bad parenting. You need to love and nourish your children, teach them right from wrong. Unfortunatly not all children listen to you, they think they know better. Addiction alters the mind and they think they are doing nothing wrong.

Addiction is without a doubt hereditery in a sense. Although addiction is a gene that can be handed down, just like alcoholism, I don't feel as if it's an excuse. Yes, you didn't chose to have addiction in your blood, but you chose to do the drugs in the first place! When it all comes down to it, it's your own fault that you're addicted to something in the first place. However, I do feel bad for these people and others who are currently suffering with addiction. These people need help. Yes, they are the scum ruining our town, but they are people too. Obviously, jail time isn't an eyeopener for these people. These people need to be sent to mandatory rehabilitation programs in accordance with their drug charges! But in the long run, nobody will change unless they themselves WANT to change.

an addict is a addict no matter what!! you can be clean for 20years and your still a addict just a recovering addict!! not all parents are to blame you teach your children from a very young age right from wrong.. and if they choose to do the wrong thing they have to accept responsiblities for there actions...like the saying goes you do the crime you do the time..now if you have a parent who is dealing drugs (cause in previous article from June that is the same house that was busted for herion Scott Thomson, 56 clairmore avenue and police executed an arrest warrant which was probaly for him not showing up for court and while they where there discovered narcotics and drug paraphernalia and arrested •Abigal Thomson, 26, of Clairmore Avenue I'm gonna go with father and daughter) now thats a parent you can blame or the parents that are doing the drugs with there children or even the parents that are constatly making excuses for there childrens actions...as far as pushing drugs on someone no that is a choice you make.. being a diabetic when I eat that big piece of chocolate cake no one pushed it on me was a CHOICE I made and there will be consequences for it.. and as far as empathy nah..I have sympathy for innocent people who forgot to lock there car doors or the houses that got broken into or the senior whose purse was ripped from her at the mall by a addict for $50 imagine how she feels!!

This is pathetic. An addict isn't just a scumbag who likes getting high. Most suffer from depression and other psychological issues. Sounds to me as if most of these commenters have no idea what they're really talking and probably live in glass houses themselves. You want to blame these young people for being addicted to drugs? Who do you think is really selling to them? Its the older lady down the street with the surplus of Xanax. Its the man with a hurt back whose doctor gave him an endless supply of oxycontin. Look the hell around you before you start calling ppl scumbags because they aren't getting drugs from eachother. They're getting their drugs from ppl just like you.

Exactly, we are not just talking about heroin here, we are talking about prescription drugs. How many homes have been burglarized for prescription drugs? I don't think the "old lady down the street with a surplus of zanax" realizes that it's worth gold to a drug addict. Addicts are sick people. They need their fix to feel better. I'd think that most (or at least some) hate their lifestyle and would love to find a way out but its not that easy.

Where are all of you when we have educational drug programs? Nobody attends. I spoke at Lacey HS recently w/ another professional speaker & there was under 40 people including the teachers & police. Nobody thinks it will be their child or they think it's JUST underage drinking smoking pot. Guess what? More kids (starting in middle school) are using prescription drugs then anything else. Painkillers are opiates - the same drug as heroin only made by scientists in a lab instead of growing in a poppy field & very addictive My child came from a good home, went to church, girl scouts, dance team but she fooled us for too long. I never dreamed this would happen because I was a good parent & she lived in a good home. Much like some of these kids. Well it's almost 4 years that our Ally is in heaven. I look at these posts and I grieve for how totally un-educated & close minded so many of you are. Yes, they deserve to be arrested and do time but serious long term treatment is needed to get stong enough to stay away from it. The line is fine between experimenting, abuse and addiction. Once the addiction monster hits, life changes - forever. One more thing - stop bashing Lacey Police. They are restricted by very tough laws to get an arrest that will stick. You can look inside a window and see drug use but be protected by privacy laws. Learn the facts! If anyone has something constructive on prevention or recovery email me though the "contact me section: at www.canuhearme.org.

The problem is the doc's an the patients who doctor shop and new jersey is full of curropt doctors!! The Feds should be goin after the doc shoppers and the curropt doctors they r the ones supplying the streets!! Link the pharmacys so people can't fill thousands of Oxys a month!!! Everything else is linked by computers. Their are tons of people who go to docs all over the place some in different states or all over NJ!!! It is a simple fix link all the pharmacy computers then that stops doc shopping!! That will stop a big amount of the prescription drugs hittin the st. that will stop the uprising of heroin addiction because they won't start on a pill that is made in a lab so the kids think its safe. Little do they know it is more addicting than heroin!!

Reading all of these comments, people are focusing more going back and fourth blaming schools and parents, and everything they can possibly blame. The bottom line is before drugs, these kids were good kids. I don't know all of them, but I'm sure at some point they were. They are all too young to have not been. I have witnessed first hand people wanted so badly to get clean and stay clean and just falling at the waist side. I have lived by someones side while they were fighting this addiction and struggling to get and stay clean. So instead of blaming everyone else, understanding that at some point, they lose control and it is beyond their comprehension what they do, the drugs takes over. As Nancy mentioned, worry more about educating our students and community about the epidemic going on and try and make a difference rather then trying to blame someone. I wish these individuals all the best, and I hope that they will beat this struggle. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day.

Having lived with family that had substance abuse issues, I will talk from experience. Nice does not work. Mean works. The only one to blame is the PERSON IN THE MIRROR that chooses a slow death. Addiction is that choice, life or death. If they choose life, they will cure themselves and at that point need support(AA,NA,Probation officers, mandatory random testing, family, etc...). I have witnessed it. If they choose death, offer them methods to end it quicker without remorse or concern for them, after all they are killing themselves. Yes, heartless, I know, but, I am very happy to say, it works!!!

The national health administration defines and recognizes ADDICTION AS A BRAIN DESEISE. IF YOU ARE BORN WITH PREDISPOSITION, GETTING MAD AT AN ADDICT FOR DOING DRUGS IS LIKE GETTING MAD AT A PERSON FOR GETTING CANCER. Addicts are not happy, and do not enjoy their lives. It's Is those who profit by taking advantage of a brain condition and deal drugs that need to be sought out and arrested. They put the illegal drugs in the addicts hands. If you we're dieing of thirst, and someone sold you a bottle of water, ud drink It. It is an instinctual response. The same goes for addicts- those of any kind; drug, gambling, sex, ect.

I will not defend my actions concerning drug use. I have hurt my family and friends in ways that I may never be able to completely put behind me. Even though I knew ahead of time I would be hurting myself as well as the people I care about, I went ahead and used heavy narcotics anyway. Two of the women I was with during this period have also been involved with drugs. It is not my place to reveal information concerning their personal life so I will speak no more on them, but it should be known I have NEVER used illegal drugs with anyone, man or woman, who did not themselves want to use narcotics. Every person consciously decided on their own to pick up. I never made that decision for anyone. Especially my girlfriends.
