4 Charged in Drug-Related Robbery in Walmart Lot

Toms River police locate 3 of 4 suspects two days after robbery

Four were charged in connection with a robbery that occurred at the Lanoka Harbor Walmart after midnight Feb. 5.

Police accuse Daniel Sanchez, 20, and Kristi Weimer, 28, both of Toms River, Bernard Roberson, 24, of Galloway Township and Anthony Gach, 18, of Forked River with taking part in a drug transaction in a vehicle in the Walmart parking lot.

The victim of the alleged robbery, a male from Iselin, was at the scene upon police arrival. The suspects had fled, police said. Police located Gach, who allegedly fled on foot, while the remaining three suspects drove away from the scene and could not be located, police said.

Through further investigation, Weimer, Roberson and Sanchez were identified along with the involved vehicle — a Kia Sol. Registration information was unknown, police said.

Clothing colors and tattoos worn or displayed during the crime were consistent with gang activity, police said.

Two days after the Walmart robbery, Toms River police responded to a call reporting shots fired. Police at the scene located a Kia Sol, police said. Investigation led to the arrest of the occupants — Weimer, Roberson and Sanchez — after it was discovered that the car was stolen, police said.

Gach was charged with hindering apprehension and intent to distribute heroin. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail with bail set at $35,000. He was released on Feb. 7.

Weimer, the driver of the stolen Kia during the robbery, was charged with one count of first-degree robbery. She was also transported to the Ocean County jail with bail set at $150,000.

Roberson was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was sent to jail with bail set at $150,000.

Sanchez was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was transported to jail with a cash only bail set at $200,000.

Additional charges and bail exist from Toms River Township. Sanchez was charged with riding in a vehicle while knowing it was taken without the consent of the owner, with bail set at $2,500. Weimer was charged with receiving stolen property with bail set at $20,000. Roberson also was charged with receiving stolen property with bail set at $20,000.

First-degree robbery carries a potential penalty of 10 to 20 years incarceration.

Since most crimes are drug related, and Weimer, Roberson & Sanchez were buying from Gach, it doesn't make sense to me that his bail is significantly lower. In a way, isn't he the root of the problem? Doubt those other crimes would have been committed if the drug dealer wasn't in the mix.

Why can't the Patch have a wall of shame with photos and address of the fine citizens in our town. This will help alert residents in town to who these fine citizens are and were they live.

it is against the law thats why not! Did you not read or hear about the newspaper in ny that listed gun owners homes, now the paper is being sued. As a pro gun person and someone who likes our constitution it is sad that criminals actually have more rights than you or i

Well Nancy, probably because armed robbery is a first degree crime and intent to distribute isn't.... a judge sets bail based on guidlines for the degree of the crime committed. Your theory also doesn't make sense. Ever hear of supply and demand? Businesses shut down when there is no longer a need for their product, not the other way around.

My comment wasn't literal. Jeesh. Supply and demand, sure I hear you... but at some point we have to eliminate the supply. Has anything else worked? Outrageously stiff consequences would be a good start. Just my opinion.

Thank you Wames for demonstrating so vividly exactly why Random Drug Testing in the Lacey School District is so desperately needed. Yes, you are just what we need to teach the apethetic tax paying public just what IS going on in the streets of Lacey. We need testing to identify all of the GACH's, so that this village can help all those GACH's beat this demon they have on their backs, before it overcomes their ability to fight the desperate decision of dying quickly rather than slowly thru drug use. We will not move on, we will stay and FIGHT. As far as who is "stupid", he got caught, didn"t he!!!!

Walmarts always bring crime to an area. See the film Walmart: the high cost of low prices. It on youtube for free. Maybe we should drug test all Walmart shoppers instead of gymnasts and chess club members. Just cut to the chase, fer christ sakes.

With all of the cameras on that wal-mart building dont you think law enforcement should have had more information on that car and the people involved right away? Sentance them, they should have enough video of thoes animales to lock them up for a long time! unbeliveable!

I will not defend my actions concerning drug use. I have hurt my family and friends in ways that I may never be able to completely put behind me. Even though I knew ahead of time I would be hurting myself as well as the people I care about, I went ahead and used heavy narcotics anyway.

Two of the women I was with during this period have also been involved with drugs. It is not my place to reveal information concerning their personal life so I will speak no more on them, but it should be known I have NEVER used illegal drugs with anyone, man or woman, who did not themselves want to use narcotics. Every person consciously decided on their own to pick up. I never made that decision for anyone. Especially my girlfriends.

I am an honorably discharged Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran and I am ashamed for how I once behaved. However I have taken it upon myself to take the necessary steps to set my life straight. I have been shown there is a better way to live without the use of drugs and I will become successful no matter what. I will earn a career and I will become a functioning member of society just like I once was before. If your one of those who wish to project responsibility on me for someone else's behavior concerning drugs I feel it is my duty to let you know that the definitions for responsibility and behavior can be found in any dictionary in any English speaking country.

Your accusations, if gone unchallenged, become beliefs. But what you believe is not always true. Do not point the finger if you do not have a hand to lend. And most importantly if you have something to say about me, say it to my face. I will have you know that not everyone has it in them to be a soldier, but I do.

Are we seriously trying to blame a store for the obvious stupidity of useless drug addicts? It doesn't matter where the hell these people went to do their drug deal, the robbery still would have happened regardless. It just blows my mind how a stupid scenario played out by a bunch of junkies brings on even MORE ridiculousness on this site. Drugs are bad, not stores. Just like people kill people not guns. Get a grip.
