11 Arrested in Rash of Lacey Burglaries

Thefts of jewelry were estimated at $50,000

Eleven Ocean County residents have been arrested and charged in connection to the rash of burglaries that occurred over the course of two months in Lacey Township.

From September to November, Lacey Police responded to 15 residential burglaries, most of which occurred during the daytime hours, Detective Sgt. Chris Cornelius said. In each burglary, the homes were entered through unlocked doors and windows.

In most cases, jewelry was stolen from the master bedroom of the homes, he said. The thefts have an estimated value of nearly $50,000.

The following suspects are being held at the Ocean County Jail in lieu of outstanding bails, which are listed below:

  • Nicole Such, 20, charged with five counts of burglary and five counts of theft, bail set at $75,000;
  • William Fischer, 21, charged with two counts of receiving stolen property, burglary and theft, bail set at $50,000;
  • Steven Doell, 25, charged with receiving stolen property, two counts of burglary and theft, bail set at $30,000;
  • Kenneth Novack, 23, charged with receiving stolen property, two counts of burglary and theft, bail set at $30,000;
  • Joseph Suckiel, 21, charged with three counts of burglary, three charges of theft and possessing a scanner while committing a crime, bail set at $62,500;
  • Thomas Suckiel, 19, charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit burglary, posted his $30,000 bail and was released;
  • Brian Hennessey, 24, charged with two counts of burglary, theft and failure to return mislaid property, bail set at $20,000;
  • Jamie Okane, 20, charged with burglary, no bail as she allegedly violated probation;
  • Renae Milko, 22, charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy to commit burglary, bail set at $50,000;
  • Gabriella Terrill, 22, charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy, no bail, as she allegedly violated probation;
  • Joseph Hover, 25, charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft and criminal attempt to commit burglary, bail set at $50,000.

The aforementioned people were all from Lacey, except Milko, who resides in Waretown.

The arrests were made after detectives recovered stolen pieces of jewelry and pawn slips, received information from neighbors, conducted numerous interviews of suspects and recovered physical evidence, Cornelius said.

    In addition to the charges, future testimony will be provided to an Ocean County grand jury which will consider additional indictments, he said.

    The following graph breaks down the burglaries and charges:

    Thank Christ! I have ZERO tolerance ( hate that saying ) for this kind of thing. It hurts people financially and turns their world upside down. Including little kids who also live there. Anyone who has gotten stuff stolen from or has had their house broken knows what Im talking about. I hope whoever is guilty goes to jail for a very long time. Good work by Lacey PD and whoever helped them. Thank god.

Unfortunately, we know they will all get out and just start doing it all over again. They can't help themselves. It's a never ending battle for you guy's. Keep up the good work LTPD and God Bless!

Grab one pillhead chick she will give em all up, they are just the start of this Dope fueled crew that robs homes during the day cause work is a four letter word which they will have to do for probation .I hope the Judge makes them do it even if its for free, Now post pics of them in cars and watch the movement like cops use to do? When we knew the Actors we watched them, they always come back (cowards) to what they know CRIME!!!!! Soon someone will be home and Armed and it wont be pretty, Coming Soon to a home near you.

    Great job all around! Hats off to the police department and honest citizens who reported ill activity. I said it in a previous thread when these acts began and I will say it again...opening a pawn shop in Lacey was a recipe for disaster and this proves my point. Hand shakes for the police department and head shakes for the council approving the pawn shop to open.

    Without the information obtained from questioning the pawn shop, it is likely that these people would not have been caught. They simply would have tried to sell the goods somewhere else. Any business that is not committing fraud should be permitted to operate in any town.

    These drug addicts need YOUR drugs that's why they're breaking into your house. Why not steal some jewelry along the way? I know when I see my drug dealer I need an appointment and a co pay. These kids would save themselves a lot of trouble if they just invested in some health insurance and a "back problem"

    Some of the comments here are disgusting and disturbing. Criminals should pay reparations for their crimes, but these people have yet to go to trial. The truth is that they are innocent until proven guilty. Comments aimed at defaming their character--calling them addicts, etc.,--are not only out of out of place but offensive. These kind of statements reveal an ignorant and uncompromising mindset which is, in truth, far more damaging to society than robbery.

    Not sure what you're getting at Tim. If someone robbed my house, yes, it would be unfortunate, but I don't think it would change my stance. What I'm trying to point out is that the punishment of these people shouldn't be the focus of people's reaction...there are larger, societal issues that have possibly lead to these behaviors. Maybe Kenneth or Jamie grew up in a broken home where their parents were abusive and drug use was common, because mom was unemployed and dad was absent. Let's say Kenneth never had the necessary parental support to get through grade school and therefore never went to college. Now he's at the bottom of the job market and can't compete with the flood of college graduates looking for the same jobs as them. He needs money for whatever reason and can't get it, so he turns to crime. Should we focus on punishing Kenneth for his crime, or should we try to rehabilitate him? What's better in the long run...starting Kenneth on a bout of in and out prison terms or getting him an education so he can get a job? What if Kenneth was your son? What would you do?

    Ya know what Ed.... thats a poor excuse for these kids to turn to theft. There are so many others out there with the same situations and inspite of it, they rose above it.
    And as far as thm being innocent till they are proven guilty? Well I don't think they would be arrested and in jail if there was not sufficent evidence to do so!
    I understand wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt but really, these kids(altho most are considered adults by age) have rap sheets a mile long. These are not first time offenders. I say put them in a rigerous Boot Camp, sleeping outside doing manual labor, forced to follow orders every minute of everyday.

    Ed.. if ken was my kid and pulled that stuff I would drive him to the jail with a weeks worth of socks and underware and tell them to lock him up for as long as needed.. also I will prove your point wrong with the schooling, I personally never finished highschool or went to collage but yet I manage to have a job and take care of myself with no help from others and I do not have to rob anyone in order to do so.. these kids are lazy and all they care about is their next fix.. jail and 6-12 month rehab is def. Called for.. without the who knows what they'll steal next for their next fix and possibly OD.. and maybe everyone is their OWN person and can make their own choises with their own minds.. parents or not drug problems or not.. if the parents did infact have problems with drugs you'd think these kids would have learned a lesson and not follow in an addiction pattern.. bottom line, lazy.

It breaks my heart to read some of these names as it seem like it was only yesterday I can remember serving some of them lunch in the local elementary school cafeteria when they were just inoccent children. If only they had listened to Mr. Mackey-the school counselor and his lectures on drug and alcohol prevention.

    these kids need serious rehab... at least for a year !!! I feel for them...The pain pill addiction is bad... I am married 28 years , no broken home !~!!! my husband and i are both teachers, Our daughter who is 22 , has a addiction to pain pills., we have lived in Lacey 26 years. She has been addicted for 3 and a half years. Lacey is full of this epidemic, that is what it has become, a epidemic. She is in jail , and will be till after Christmas because she broke her probation, the pill addiction has gotten her into alot of trouble. What you all dont understand is any moral thinking, wrong and right is taken away by these pills. YES , they need to pay for their crimes, but rehab is the only way... Jail will not help them. The addiction is a disease.... I as a parent will never ever give up on my child. She is not a scumbag and does not need judgement by people who have not a clue. ALL these young adults have made a serious mistake that they will pay for the rest of their lives. I THE MOTHER OF A DRUG ADDICT APOLOGIZE for what they have done , but none of you will ever understand unless you live it... and it s not because of broken homes or because of parents that use drugs.

    Jake2, you said it all so well, noone will ever understand, until they have experienced it. Addicts come from all walks of life. I too have a 22 year old daughter who is an addict. I never did drugs, nor do I drink. I am a single mom, and the only thing I am guilty of is working long hours to support my family. I set the best examples I could, and my kids were always ambitious, smart and well rounded. I dont blame anyone for my daughters problem. The choices were hers, and she thought she could party a little and then go back to living her life. The drugs took hold and completely changed who she was. I wont go on about the details of her addiction, I just wanted to tell you how happy I was to hear you say that you will never give up on your child. That was the stance that I also took, and I let her know that, unconditionally. She finally decided to reach out for help, went into rehab out of state, followed the programs, graduated, started living in a sober living community, and is back to being the person she was meant to be.Two years ago, I didnt believe it was possible. Dont ever give up. My daughter thanked me, telling me that she knows I never gave up on her even though she had given up on herself. She told me that my love saved her life, because without it she would have eventually died. Just a few words of encouragement for you and other families going thru this, dont ever give up, there is always hope, with love and encouragement, all things are possible

    Drug addiction isn't the same as a kid being SICK "JAKE 2" - being sick is having the flu or a stomach bug. No one wants your drug addicted kids around breaking into homes and stealing things that people work hard for.
    My home was robbed of many many things by said DRUG ADDICTS. It's ridiculous and unacceptable.
    If your a parent of a drug addict - SEND THEM TO REHAB, TURN THEM IN TO THE POLICE. Get them off the street and out of strangers homes robbing things that people work damn hard to earn. Your just as guilty as they are JAKE 2

    YEAH JESSIE , it is outta control !!!! and we cant stop it.... the government needs to step in !!!! and see how it is an epidemic ..... how are these kids getting the pils. from where and who.... i know dealers , and where are they getting them... the kids are not educating in schools on what happens to them once they are addicted....we just teach them to say no to drugs,,,, they have no idea how addicting the pills are... i know someone who started using and didnt know why after a couple of weeks... didnt know why he had nausia and cold sweats. a teenager , who already was going through withdrawl....why do Doctors prescribe these pain pills ( narcotics ) for any little pain and ache , when patients dont even ask for them.....they are highly addictive,,,, do you know how many people are in rehabs because they had prescriptions given to them from Doctor s..... what a joke... Go to a pain clinic and see how many people really need the pain pill , or is because they are addicted and thats their fix or just maybe they are gonna sell them ...i cant stop it nor can you !!! The government needs to step in or someone with power and stop this nightmare.....The addicts do not have control , unless they get help, thrown in jail , or overdose.... Even if they get themselves in recovery, they will always be an addict !!!! thats just great !!!!!!! what a shame !!!!!

    Jake I understand where you are coming from I'm just trying to say that yeah they may not be justified but they can't help their actions anymore. And our jails are to over crowded and its gotten way to far out of hand to throw everybody in jail their would be a handful of kids left in schools.

    yes , your right !!!! i teach in a high school in TOMS River.... these kids think its great to try it but have no idea of the conquences they are in for, for the rest of their lives.... jail is not the answer ... i agree .... thats why the rehabs are so full.....its just a mess , and so depressing !!! i wish i had the answer.... i am not an addict , nor do i have a addictive personality.. so i dont get it... i say just quit and move on... but it s not that easy .......the pain pill addiction and heroin is one of the hardest addictions to break !!! it s awful...
